Amautiit’s Vision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Amautiit Nunavut Inuit Women’s Association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing self-determination for Nunavut Arnait <\/em>[Inuit women] in all areas of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Inuktitut word that best captures Amautiit’s vision is inunnguijuq<\/em>, which refers to capable and well-adjusted individuals. The word inunnguijuq incorporates the concept of nurturing and guidance provided by parents and others. This comprehensive support, which begins in pregnancy, fosters the strength, confidence, resilience, enrichment and empowerment needed for people to realize their rightful place in families and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amautiit will base its efforts to improve conditions for Arnait and their families in Nunavut in thoughtful research and analysis. The organization will build alliances and partnerships with like-minded agents-for-change within and outside of Nunavut, as one of its strategies to support and advocate for the rights and needs of Arnait and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amautiit’s Board of Directors<\/a> are Tara Tootoo Fotheringham (President), Lynn Mike (Vice President), Priscilla Kuksuk, Dorothy Tootoo, Megan Porter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amautiit receives financial support from the Government of Canada<\/a> via the Native Women’s Association of Canada NWAC<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
